THINGS TO DO


Most of the activities at this time of year are related to Halloween which is on Oct. 31. If you are from another country and have never witnessed the extraordinary spectacle of people walking around dressed up in ghoulish and outlandish costumes,  this is your opportunity to do some trick and treating of your own. At the very least, go get a scare at some of the area's well-known haunted barns and fields. Watch this space for updates providing information on these as it becomes available.

Halloween Parade. Main Street, Newark. Begins at corner of Tyre Avenue and goes down Main Street to North College Avenue. Oct. 25, 2 pm. Tel: 366-7060.

Trick-or-Treat Night. Main Street, Newark. Main Street businesses are open late this evening for trick and treating. A good time to do some tax-free shopping. Oct. 26, 5:30-7:30 pm.

Kahunaville Katacombs. 550 S. Madison Street, Wilmington. Scary maze of tunnels and passages in popular bar-cum-nightspot. Less scary version for kids before 7:30 pm. Open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 5pm-midnight, Saturdays 12pm-midnight, Sundays 12pm-8pm. Admission $5. Tel: 571-8401. Take I-95 North to exit 6 (Maryland Avenue or Martin Luther King Blvd.), turn right at light onto Maryland Avenue, another right to Read St., then right to Madison St.

Halloween Loop. Costume party at 19 bars and restaurants in downtown and west Wilmington. $5 one-time cover. Shuttle service among venues. Oct.30, 8 pm to 1 am. Tel: 655-9942.
