Emil Lupu

Emil Lupu is a Reader (read Associate Professor for US equivalent) in Adaptive Computing Systems at Imperial College London. He has worked extensively on many aspects of policy-based management including on the design of practical systems such as Ponder and Ponder2 and the development of formal techniques and tools for policy analysis, refinement and (more recently) learning. Policies are a particularly effective means of implementing adaptive behaviour and Emil has worked on many application areas including Pervasive Systems (including Body Area Networks for e-Health, Vehicular Networks, Home Area Networks), distributed systems, mobile ad-hoc networks, Distributed Access Control and Security Management, Trust and Privacy, Power Management and Energy Efficiency.

Emil was one of the co-founders of the Symposium on Policies for Distributed Systems and Networks (Policy) for which he was program co-chair in 2001 and 2004. He also served as program co-chair for the IEEE Conference on Enterprise Distributed Object Computing (EDOC) in 2001) and the International Conference on Network and Service Management (CNSM) in 2011. Emil serves on the Editorial Board of the nternational Journal of Network Management (IJNM), the Journal of Network and Systems Management (JNSM) and IET Software.
